Hanz Josef Vicencio, 8th Grade student, emerged as Champion in the National Spelling Wizards Cup (spelling quiz bee).
Meanwhile, 5 other students won 2nd Runner-Up in the Reader’s Theater Competition—Eliana Jade Torio, Anna Veronica Solquio, Vanessa Geneblazo, Tyrael Danjelo Pepito, and Celine Tandioy. The Reader’s Theater showcased theatrical performances from the students as a role-play from various academic books.
The Spelling Wizard Cup and Reader’s Theater were part of the 6th “Future Captains of Industry” National Competition held by Emergent last November 14-15 at St. Paul College, Island Park, Dasmariñas, Cavite. The National Competition was participated in by more than 1,000 students and 100 schools nationwide.
“It was surprising. I didn’t expect that I would win against eleven kids that are really into reading and spelling. It was full of big-name schools,” Vicencio said after emerging champion. “The words were appropriate to my level and it was shocking that I got most of them correct.”
The students were accompanied by Dr. Beth Torres, Ms. Brichele Ombrosa, and Mr. Jordan Besinal, who served as their mentors in the 2-day event.
Emergent concept proudly presented the competition with the aim “to motivate our students to perform and excel academically, which they can apply in real-life situations and for them to gain experience, unveil their potentials, and manifest their destiny as they prepare to be the Captain of Industry of their generation.
Other competitions included Battle of the Readers, Glee, Science Olympiad, Math Quiz Bee, and EduFighter League Competition.
