Chalk Board 001:
By Christeia Jeanne Jose, Grade 7
Keeping up with a single job for years is both a challenge and an accomplishment. Being a parent to one or two kids is a never-ending task and blessing. Being a second parent is another story! Teacher Ching could retrospect all these in her 22 long years of teaching in WILL School of Antipolo, Inc. (WSAI).
“Teaching is caring. Teaching is loving,” Mrs. Carmencita Micaller, more commonly called Teacher Ching says. These are perhaps a few of the best words that kept her going through the years. This, while being a teacher is never an easy (but rewarding) task.
“When I see my students, they inspire me a lot. I always look at my students as cotton or an empty glass that needs to be filled up, that needs to absorb something from me,” Teacher Ching added.
Setting the Goals
“I’ve always wanted to be a teacher,” she says. This led her to pursue 19 units of education after taking up AB Political Science at Adamson University. Moving her goals further aligned her career professionally to “History” teaching, her current subject matter in WSAI.
She has been with WSAI for years now to have her students the best learning experiences through her. She also previously taught in STI Antipolo and Juan Sumulong Memorial Junior College.
Take it from the Expert
“Study hard and study well. Listen to your teachers,” an advice Teacher Ching would like to share with her beloved students.
In Teacher Ching’s 34 years of teaching, she has experienced changes in the teaching curriculum, the NSEC, and today’s K to 12 Curriculum.
“I keep myself updated, not only through seminars but also through books and reading through the Internet,” Teaching Ching said. She knows the challenges that come with being in the education field. Even so, she continues to teach with a passion for what made her choose her profession in the first place.
“You really have to feel within your heart that you love your students,” she said. “Teaching is beyond what you have learned in college. It’s not only the facts, the knowledge that you have learned. Teaching is supposed to be beyond the four corners of the room.”
