WILL School of Antipolo Inc. (WSAI), with some of its faculty members, went to a retreat, also leadership seminar, in Hotel Kimberly, Tagaytay last January 10-11. The retreat focused on helping cultivate and improve their skills in communicating with their students.

This year’s theme was “Inspiring Leaders and Empowering Teachers: Shaping the School Character and Culture.”

Different kinds of learning, teaching communication across the curriculum and academic culture, and traits of a 21st-century learner were highlighted in the seminar.

It was led by Mr. Juan Banal, a former board member of Domuschola International School and an International Baccalaureate Workshop leader, and Prof. Niel Kenneth Jamandre, an assistant professor at the Department of Speech Communication and Theater Arts in UP Diliman.

“You will be obsolete,” Mr. Juan Banal says to teachers with students exposed to modern technology that shows a great impact on how a child learns.

According to the teachers, they learned how to prepare the students better for a world with fast-changing trends. They acquired new techniques that will be useful in handling the students and ways to become more effective for 21st-century educators.

The topics were targeted to help them be more flexible in learning how to adapt to the more fast-paced world of today.

This year’s faculty and staff attendees were Dr. Belinda A. Torres, Teddy S. Torres, Carmencita A. Micaller, Epitacio S. Ambos Jr., Kimberly T. Leyva, Claribel B. Dayandante, Thony Joy B. Miralles and Mary Joy B. Atendido.
